Inter-disciplinary artist Khairul Anwar Bin Fazlur Rahman aka Khaitama D. Sun works with percussion and visual arts to ‘bring rhythm to life’ through a unique painting technique he fondly calls 'Playnting,' using drumsticks as his creative brush. He has performed and showcased his work in Berlin, Bangkok, Olongapo and Singapore.
Visually and conceptually inspired by Van Gogh, Claude Monet and Jackson Pollock, it was Ushio Shinohara's boxing paintings which influenced Khaitama to express himself through his dynamic and nuanced movements of the drumsticks.
Since 2016, he has experience in working with youths-at-risk, peoples with special needs, day and nightlife events, cultural and inter-faith communities.
Fusing music and visual arts in his work, Khaitama devises participatory events where audiences are encouraged to discover their own creative nature and empowered to express their creativity in holistic and empathetic manner. Through his work, Khaitama aims to inspire personal growth and empower individuals to understand the world around them better.
